YEP 2017/18 is an annual flagship program organized the Manufacturing and Industrial (MI) Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). “Redesign Power Plant for Next Hundred Year” is chosen as theme of this year. The program require participants (Yeppers) to read academic journals, identify critical problems, conduct value analysis and consult detailed solution modeling in research approach.

This competition was opened to engineering undergraduates in field of Industrial Engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Eleven teams presented in the first round on 24 March 2018 and the top five teams, including two from HKU, were selected into the final competitions on 27 April 2018:
