The Department, originally named the Department of Industrial Engineering, was established in 1973. It was the first university department to offer degree programmes in Industrial Engineering in Hong Kong. The Department was officially renamed as Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) in 1989. Over the past half-century, the Department has nurtured numerous industrial leaders with solid technological backgrounds, management skills, and knowledge integration abilities. Our alumni hold important positions in leading corporations in Hong Kong, China, and abroad.
