IMSE's Championship in CILTHK Student Day 2021
Congratulations to the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) on the Championship won in the CILTHK Student Day 2021 competition! The Champion team comprised five undergraduate students, including Benedicta Stefani, Arora Kshitij, Ongkowijono Christian, Mitra Tridib Kumar, and Medetova Alima, and was mentored by Dr. Jonathan Ng.
This year, the CILTHK Student Day 2021 was organised through recorded video submission and an online Q&A session due to the pandemic. The contest was a case competition and seven teams from local tertiary institutions participated in the competition. The outstanding and impressive performance of the IMSE team on the topic “The shortage of container boxes in the recent liner trade causing chaotic and bewildering global trade. How will the overdrive in container manufacturing affect future global trade?” won the championship in the competition. The judging panel commented that the team was able to analyze the challenging problem from different perspectives and answer all the questions from the panel satisfactorily. The panel also noted that the key to success was time management, where the IMSE team was able to collect the necessary data and materials, analyse the case thoroughly, and finish the case study in only three days.
