The HKU IMSE VR Game Jam 2024 recently concluded as a resounding success, providing a unique opportunity for complete beginners to explore the fascinating world of virtual reality (VR) game development. This free event, held at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), welcomed participants from all backgrounds, encouraging them to bring their laptops and friends to create a collaborative and engaging atmosphere.

Catering to students in Forms 4 to 6, the event utilised both English and Cantonese as the languages of communication, making it accessible to a diverse audience. Participants had the opportunity to compete for exciting prizes, including a Meta Quest 2 headset for the winning group. This friendly competition motivated attendees to put forth their best efforts and showcase their creativity.

A significant highlight of the event was the provision of the XRCC software, developed from years of extensive XR research at HKU. This powerful tool enabled creators of varying skill levels to unleash their creativity and construct remarkable XR experiences. With an intuitive interface and a visual programming editor, XRCC catered to both novice and experienced users alike.
