An Industrial Talk – Smart AGV Robots for Industrial and Logistics Applications

Mr. Lit Fung, who is the General Manager at GeekPlus (Hong Kong) International Limited, gave an industrial talk about recent development and applications of smart automated guided vehicle (AGV) robots for our engineering training’s students on 22 June, 2018. He presented different types of AGV robots, including picking system, moving system, and sorting system for automating materials handling operations in various areas, such as manufacturing shop floors, warehouses, and distribution centres. Such AGV robots may be a practical tool to facilitate enterprises to overcome the materials handling’s challenges that are caused by rapid growth of E-commerce. In addition, he introduced various navigation technologies, including 2D barcode, RFID, and simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM). His talk has inspired our students to design and manufacture their AGV robots in the coming three training weeks.
