Contest

We are thrilled to announce that two HKU Teams, called Virtus and Sapientia respectively, supervised by Dr. H.H. Cheung from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering have won the 1^st runner up and the Best Performance Awards as well as the 2^nd runner up award respectively in the 2023 Robocon Hong Kong Contest.

With the theme “Casting Flowers Over Angkor Wat”, the Robocon Contest was held on June 25, 2023, in Hong Kong Science Park with 14 participating teams from 8 local higher education institutions. Our elite students from mainly Engineering and other disciplines created their custom-built rabbit robots and elephant robots and gained points by controlling them to complete several missions.

By participating in the Robocon Contest, our students were not only able to apply their knowledge in rivalry, but they also developed practical skills in various areas, such as Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, 3D Printing, Machining, Circuit Design and Fabrication, Internet of Things, AI, and programming. The Robocon Contest indeed provided them with a precious opportunity to learn through real-world experiences.
