Professor Mak received both his MSc degree in Manufacturing Engineering
and PhD degree in Systems Engineering at the University of Salford,
UK. He had accumulated substantial experience in industry prior to joining
the University of Hong Kong by working in several UK engineering enterprises
including the Pilkington Brothers Ltd., the T.S. Harrison and Sons Ltd.,
as well as in some enterprises in Hong Kong. Indeed, he has wide exposure
to industry, and is well connected with enterprises in the local and
overseas communities. His current research interests focus mainly on
Production and Operations Management, Product Development, Manufacturing
Systems Design and Control, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
He has published extensively in these areas. He also served the university
in other different capacities, for example, as Head of the IMSE department
for a number of years, and is currently an Associate Dean of the Faculty
of Engineering. Some Recent Publications
