Career Talk 2016, organized by HKU IEPGA, was successfully held on 16th, April, 2016 in MB 201, HKU. Around 150 participants attended this event. Four special guests from different career fields and from both Mainland China and Hong Kong were invited to share their work experiences and job finding suggestions. Three renowned groups, Kuang-Chi, HIT and KDS Global Logistics Limited were also invited, and they all provided students with work or internship opportunities. All the participants had a meaningful afternoon.

The event started with a warm welcome speech by Dr. L.K. CHU, director of the Msc(Eng) Programme in IELM, IMSE Department. During the event, excellent alumni and company representatives talked about their startup experiences, introduced their companies and shared job-hunting skills. In the first session, four excellent alumni shared their work experience and gave valuable advices to the students. Zheng Ying, William Siu, Brian Lyu and Wilson Wu, from different companies including Wechat, InnoWorld Limited, Guotai Junan International (HK) and Joyrun, introduced their career paths. Wilson Wu told his start-up story to the students, encouraging the students to accumulate sufficient work experiences before starting up own businesses. After the tea break, the second session started. In the second session, three famous companies, Kuang-Chi, HIT and KDS Global Logistics Limited gave recruitment talks, giving chances for attended students to submit their resumes. After the talks finished, students further chatted with the guest speakers enthusiastically.

Career Talk 2016 acted as a platform to bring senior professions, experienced alumni and graduating students together and to enhance students’ career development and opportunities. With the great efforts of IEPGA, it is believed that the event was successfully held, which not only brought deeper insights of various industries to the students but also helped prepare the students well to find their dream jobs.
