The 2014 Career Talk for Industrial Engineering Postgraduate and Scholar Association was successfully held on 12th April, 2014 at the Theatre C, Chow Yei Ching Building in the University of Hong Kong with around 70 participants and all of them had a fruitful journey with the valuable information and experience brought by the honorable guests.

The career talk aimed to provide a platform for HKU IEPGA members to communicate with enterprise managers and at the same time get to know more about personal career planning. Therefore they could develop an insight in the expectations and requirements from the industry and got inspired enthusiasm in the Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management field. Entrepreneurs and representatives from CILTHK, Esquel Group, Langham Hospitality Group and Scholars from the department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering the University of Hong Kong were invited to be the honorable guests.

The career talk started at 14:00 pm with a warmly welcome speech brought by Mr Victor Tee from IMSE. Then Mr. Thomas Yu gave an inspiring speech on Hong Kong Logistics Industry: Prospects for Prosperity, followed by Mr. Edgar Tung from Esquel Group whose speech was about Inventing the Global Empire of Premium Fashion. After a 15-minute break, there came the speech Soaring and Venturing through Hotel Wonderland by Mr. Ray Leung from Langham Hospitality Group. Mr. Victor Tee, in representation of the Centre of Development and Resources for Students of the University of Hong Kong, delivered a speech named Career Smart – Building a Career to THRIVE. Last but not least, Professor George Huang from the department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering gave the final speech on How to Write Technical Reports.

When asked the feelings of the career talk, Mr. Heller Wang, one of the event holders and the Vice Chairperson of HKU IEPGA, had the following reply:

"The '2014 Career Talk' was successfully presented to all HKU IEPGA members. We are proud to say that the ultimate goal of this talk has been well reached. The talk provided a platform for HKU IEPGA members to communicate with enterprise managers, and brought new insights to students in understanding the prospects for Hong Kong logistics industry and planning their careers. Herein, I want to show my gratefulness to all the guests for coming and giving wonderful speeches. Also, the efforts and contributions of the Executive Committee of the HKU IEPGA were indispensable in this success. Thank you all."
