Potential applicants should have good knowledge and skills in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering, Cloud Computing/App development, and/or RFID. Experience in construction industry / discipline would be an advantage. Appointments would be made at levels appropriate for the candidates' track records. Internships can ONLY be taken by Hong Kong permanent residents or students graduated from Hong Kong universities with bachelor/master/PhD degrees.

George Q. Huang is Professor in Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. He gained his BEng and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Southeast University (China) and Cardiff University (UK) in 1983 and 1991 respectively. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Fellow of ASME, HKIE and IET, and Member of HKLA and IIE. He is currently a member of Engineering Panel of Hong Kong SAR Research Grant Council (HKSAR RGC).

Professor Huang has conducted research projects in the areas of Industrial Informatics, Collaborative Product Design & Manufacturing and Cross-Border Logistics & Supply Chain Management. He has published extensively, including two monographs and two edited reference book, and nearly 300 technical papers, half of which have appeared in refereed journals. Many publications in the field have received a good total number of citations and several individual papers have been among Top 10 Most Cited papers (Business & Management and Decision Sciences) in several journals.

Professor Huang's research has received substantial financial supports (totaling HK$20M since joining HKU in 1997) from Hong Kong Research Grant Council (HKRGC), Hong Kong University Research Committee (HKURC) and Teaching Development Grants (TDG), and Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) in close collaboration with major companies in relevant industrial sectors. He has led his team and conducted R&D activities. Several outcomes have been used in companies for daily operations.

Professor Huang has been serving on editorial boards of a number of international journals. He is Editor for Asia Pacific for International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Associate Editor of International Journal of Production Research, Area Editor for Business & Management for International Journal of Research in Engineering Design, and Associate Editor for Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing.

Professor Huang received 2007 First-Class Natural Science Award from Chinese Ministry of Education on "Service-oriented manufacturing execution in extended enterprises", Outstanding Young Researcher Award (Overseas) from Natural Science Foundation of China in 2006 and The University of Hong Kong Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2001.
