Our year 4 BEng(LESCM) student, Mr.Leung Ka Hei was awarded by the Hong Kong Police Force lately in recognition of his outstanding performance in the Police Mentorship Programme 2016/2017 job attachment programme. The main focus of his summer internship is to undergo research on "efficiency and effective storage use in restricted space in the Emergency Unit (EU)."

Mr. Leung Ka Hei shared with us his research in gist: "A large number of emergency response equipments including firearms are required to be stored In EU Patrol cars. The focus of my research is to assess the essential equipments required and to consider the best use of storage space thereon. It aims to maximize the effectiveness in keeping equipment onboard an EU Car by identifying the types of equipment that are indespensable, necessary, frequently used to fulfill EU's job charter with reference to the statistics on types of calls EU Cars had responded to in recent year(s). During the internship, I have used some research methodology and some qualification in logistic arrangement to sort out the best way the equipment should be put, or to design the storage of the compartment in our EU cars in which I have learnt from my IMSE classes."

Mr. Leung Ka Hei found this internship experience fruitful. He shared with us, "At the end of the internship, it provides an golden opportunity to understand the Constabulary duties and the charisma of being a leader in the Force. It is a memorable experience which let me become more mature and broaden my horizon."

The department congratulates Mr. Leung Ka Hei's achievement and wishes all our student find his/her internship experience rewarding.
