As Hong Kong continues to play a significant role as a commercial and logistics centre for China and South-East Asia, there is a growing need for engineers who have both global operations management skills and engineering knowledge. Supply chain managers, for example, are required for designing supply chain and logistics systems, and managing day-to-day commercial and logistic operations in various corporations in Hong Kong.

Over the years, both male and female graduates of this Department are sought by various local corporations, service and commercial enterprises, public transportation companies, logistics management corporations, management consultancy firms, and government agencies.

Many graduates from this Department already occupy important positions as operations managers in businesses and industries in Hong Kong. Despite structural changes in the world economy, a recent survey shows that more than 94% of our fresh graduates had full-time jobs by the end of September in the year of graduation. On the average each of our students received 2.1 jobs offers, and 28% of them received 3 to 6 offers.

The education offered by the Department provides graduates with the necessary background to establish successful career paths. Supply chain management and technology management in the new programmes are designed to help graduates to seize the enormous opportunities arising from major developments such as China's

integration with the world economy, Hong Kong's enhanced role in global logistics and Hong Kong's role as a service and tourism centre for Asia, and many other exciting developments.
